End of Semester Reflection

 1.  How did you use AI applications in your practicum? I did not use AI at all in my practicum. I learned that AI applications such as ChatGPT can be used in the classroom to come up with ideas for lessons that also connect to curricular outcomes.  2.  What did you learn or “take-away” from this course and how has your perspective about integrating technology into K to 6 education changed/grown throughout the course? Before this course I had a limited knowledge on how I could incorporate technology into the classroom. My knowledge has grown and I have learned that I can use Scratch and Prezi to integrate technology into my teaching practice. In addition to this I was able to learn about a variety of other applications and how they can be integrated into the classroom. My main take away from this course was that technology can be integrated into the classroom without feeling forced. 3. How did this course help you answer your “burning” question about the use of digit...

Blog Post 5: Utilizing Scratch in The Classroom

This is the link to my lesson plan on how I would use coding for the students in my practicum.  I would use this lesson plan in the future by teaching the students the basics of scratch. This lesson is designed as a beginning activity for students to find out what scratch is. This is something that is designed to hopefully inspire students to want to try scratch. I want to show the students how fun scratch can be.

Blog Post 4: Using Prezi in the Classroom

For our mini lesson we utilized the app Prezi. This is the link to the prezi platform.  This is the link to our lesson plan.  This image is a screenshot of the slideshow that prezi AI made for our mini lesson.  Overall the lesson went quite well, we presented our topic and how the app could be used in the classroom. In our lesson we utilized a golf ball and a soccer ball to show the phases of the moon. In the future if we were to do it again I would turn the lights off so that the audience could actually see the phases of the moon. With the lights on the phases did not turn out as good.

Kainai Digital Story My digital story is about the Kainai people, this includes where they are from, their history, and what I learned while researching them.  My digital story is available here (The Canadian Encyclopedia, 2008)

Using Twitter As a Teacher

In my future teaching practice I would use twitter as a way to update the school's community about the school. This includes school events, postings about volunteering opportunities within the school, important dates, and what the students are doing in the classroom. When showing what the students are doing in the classroom, it is a professional responsibility to ensure that the students names are not in the work and the posting. In addition to updating parents, twitter can be used to connect with others in the education world. This can be used to find out about professional development opportunities and also see what teachers across the world are doing in their classrooms. Twitter can be a great method to learn and grow as a teacher.  This is the link to my twitter account https://twitter.com/BSe10201

Blog Post #1

 1.  Previous experience with AI applications e.g., ChatGPT) and how you have used them (e.g., writing assignments)?     I do not have any history with AI applications. I have not used AI in any capacity before. I want to learn more about both the benefits and the harms of AI and how I can incorporate AI into my own teaching practice. 2. Educational technology being used in your 3rd year practicum placement?     In my practicum this semester I have not seen many uses of technology. The main thing that I have noticed is the teachers use of smartboards. In my classroom my mentor teacher uses smartboards to teach lessons as well as for body breaks for the students. When she teaches lessons she uses google slides as a method to teach them. My mentor teacher also uses google translate on her phone to help two students who are just learning English. I have noticed that other than smartboards and teacher's personal devices there really is not much use of...
